Spring Apple-Radish Smoothie

Spring Apple-Radish Smoothie

This zesty Spring apple-radish smoothie is great to start your day or refresh after a workout. Loaded with nutrients, these fruits and veggies have what your body needs to refill on nutrients:

  • Apples are naturally rich in pectin, a fiber that makes you feel full and satiated.

  • Radishes have copious amounts of Vitamin C and are decent sources of folate and potassium, too.

  • A great source of potassium and Vitamin C, the cucumber is also rich in lignans, a type of phytoestrogen with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Avocados are nutritional powerhouses, loaded with healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber, including Vitamins C and K, B vitamins and potassium. They are high in fatty acids (omegas -6 and -3), which are important in brain function, metabolism, and bone, skin and hair growth.

  • Kiwis are full of nutritional goodness. One large kiwi gives you 141 % of your daily Vitamin C needs and 46 % of your daily Vitamin K. They are also high in dietary fiber, and have decent amounts of potassium, folate, copper and Vitamin E.

Notes

You can give it a twist by adding your favorite berries, nuts and seeds or whatever you just have handy. I personally like to add blueberries and hemp seeds for extra protein.
