Yoga: A Lifelong Journey of Joy, Fulfillment, and Mindful Living
Yoga has been a part of my life since I was a little girl. My mom was already a Yoga teacher when I came into this world. I probably started practicing Yoga before I was born, in her womb.
Yoga has always been present in my life. I used to accompany my mom to her Yoga classes. Whether during her classes for the elderly at their seniors' residence, at the European School in Brussels, or even at what was then still called “the European Economic Commission.” I was next to her and tried to do all the postures like her. It was easy at 3, 4, or 5 years old because I had the flexibility all young children have.
As I grew up, I continued to practice yoga with my mother and on my own. In 1995, my mother taught me how to teach, and I started giving yoga lessons, specializing in Hatha Yoga, as my mother taught it. Today, I offer private one-on-one yoga classes, integrating the principles of joy, fulfillment, and mindful living that I advocate in all aspects of life.
Hatha Yoga
Curious about Hatha Yoga and its benefits for your body and mind? Let me share the wonders of this amazing practice!
Hatha Yoga is a form of yoga that emphasizes physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation techniques (dhyana) to promote strength, flexibility, and relaxation. It’s one of the world’s most popular forms of yoga and for a good reason!
The word “hatha” comes from the Sanskrit language, combining “ha” (meaning sun) and “tha” (meaning moon). This symbolizes the balance of opposites that Hatha Yoga seeks to achieve ― the harmony between strength and flexibility, effort and ease, and our nature's active and receptive aspects.
As a full-body workout, Hatha Yoga engages all your muscles, enhances your range of motion and stability, and develops strength and flexibility as you transition through each pose. In a Hatha Yoga practice, you’ll focus on your breath, using it to calm your mind, concentrate your attention, and move with intention through each posture. Additionally, you’ll improve balance and coordination while moving between postures.
But Hatha Yoga isn’t just about physical fitness ― it’s also a practice that fosters mental and emotional well-being. You’ll learn how to quiet your mind, alleviate stress, and cultivate inner peace and tranquility through meditation and mindfulness.
Hatha Yoga’s adaptability makes it accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, there’s a Hatha Yoga practice suited to your needs.
