What is bio-individuality?

Each person is unique and that is a wonderful thing!

This means that everyone has unique nutritional needs. There is no standard diet that works for everyone.

The diet must be adapted according to age, sex, body type, physical activity, and health issues, but above all, it must also take into account the usual rhythm of life, tastes, and habits.

There are certain basic rules that are valid for everyone, but not taking into account the bio-individuality of each person and following a standard diet plan will probably not bring you the results you want, whether it be your health, your weight, or your energy.

When I give talks, I often get generic questions, but unfortunately for more specific questions, there is no one answer that is right for everyone. I know this can be frustrating, but if everyone is unique, a one-size-fits-all answer would contradict the very essence of bio-individuality.

In fact, during my coaching sessions, I do not apply a diet that is valid for everyone, but I do take into account this bio-individuality, especially by respecting the lifestyle and tastes of my clients. An easy example: don't ask an Italian to never eat pizza or pasta again, it would be a guaranteed failure. Do you know what I mean?

But one thing is true for everyone when it comes to diet: vary and balance what you eat in order to provide your body with a variety of nutrients.

So how can we vary our diet while enjoying it?

  • Vary the dishes and meals during the day.

  • Eat the rainbow - different colored fruits and vegetables will provide different nutrients.

  • Don't eat the same food every single week, remember that variation is the key.

  • Above all, eat seasonal fruits and vegetables as a priority (this will be beneficial for your wallet but also for a sustainable environment).

  • Give preference to organic, unprocessed products as much as possible.

Each food has unique virtues, it is not only about calories, but about nutrients, macros such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, and micro such as vitamins, minerals, trace elements, etc. It is about providing your body with a whole range of nutrients to enable it to function at its best.

Coming back to bio-individuality, in the same way, that your body is unique, your state of mind is not always the same. Your work and personal environment also have a direct effect on how you feel, as do your physical activity and sleep.

This can lead to eating too little or too much, or eating poorly - think junk food or bingeing, or not eating at all.

The key is to find a balance between what we eat for our bodies and what we eat to feel good!

Taking your bio-individuality into account may seem complicated at first, but in reality, it's a matter of going back to basics and listening to your body and your feelings. Therein lies the key to success in regaining health and feeling good in your body and mind.

If you need a hand to get back on track, don't hesitate to make a free appointment to talk about it. I will be happy to show you the ideal tools for you, based on your unique needs.
