Kitchen Spring Cleaning !
Who doesn't know the satisfying feeling after a thorough spring cleaning? Everything shines, smells good and feels so clean. Here’s how you can make two simple cleaning products yourself.
Why make your own cleaning products?
You may be asking yourself why you should make your own cleaning products? After all, you can buy them in any supermarket. The selection is indeed large and you can get everything in stores. However, it is precisely this huge selection that can sometimes be confusing. Does the product deliver what it promises? Is the price reasonable? Does my skin tolerate the product? Are some of the ingredients endocrine disruptors? What about environmental sustainability?
Making your own cleaning products has a few big advantages. First of all, you know exactly what is contained in what quantity. In addition, many homemade detergents are made from environmentally friendly household products that are better for nature and people. Finally, there is a very practical advantage: you also save quite a bit of money. For most surfaces in the household, you can safely use one and the same product. Did you know that you don't need a lot of different cleaning products to keep your home looking great? With an all-purpose cleaner and a power cleaner, you're almost fully equipped. Best of all, you can make them yourself with simple home essentials.
Quick Vinegar Cleaner
With vinegar, you can clean almost everything in your home, as it removes dirt, grease and lime effortlessly. In addition, it has a disinfecting effect at the same time and puts an end to germs and bacteria. For this simple vinegar cleaner you only need:
500 ml white vinegar
250 ml water
10 drops of lemon essential oil
10 drops of grapefruit essential oil
1 spray bottle (capacity 750 ml)
Simply mix all the ingredients together in the spray bottle and shake it vigorously before using. Spray the vinegar cleaner on the area to be cleaned and wipe it with a cloth or sponge. As a rule, you do not need to dry the surface.
Strong Power Cleaner
You have to get rid of stubborn dirt? No problem with this power cleaner. You need:
15 g soda powder
10 drops of lemon essential oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil
150 ml 5% table vinegar
900 ml of water
1 spray bottle (capacity 1 L)
Mix soda and 150 ml water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil briefly while stirring. Remove pot from heat and allow mixture to cool slightly. Slowly stir essential oils and table cider vinegar into mixture. Add remaining water and mix thoroughly. Transfer power cleaner to a spray bottle.
The Power Cleaner can be used reliably in the kitchen and in the bathroom, but it can also be used to clean the floors at home. Shake the cleaner thoroughly before using it and wipe with a cloth or sponge. For stubborn dirt stains, you can also let it soak in for a few minutes. By the way: If you miss the foaming feeling when cleaning, simply add 25 g of liquid dishwashing detergent with the essential oils to the pot.
Make your own cleaning products - here's what you need to know
Even though homemade cleaning products have many advantages and are generally compatible with many surfaces and materials, you should bear in mind that not every product is suitable for every material.
For example, these cleaning products contain vinegar, which you should not use on natural stone materials, aluminum and silicone grout. And of course, the following applies to all cleaning products: contact with eyes and (children's) hands should be avoided.
By the way: You can make cleaning products for your spring cleaning yourself from a whole range of household products: baking soda, citric acid, curd soap, vinegar essence and various oils for a pleasant smell. Depending on the composition, you can get window cleaners, dishwashing detergents, all-purpose cleaners or even laundry detergents.
