Nurture yourself this spring with primary foods

Just look at Mother Nature and imitate her to have more balance and vitality.

Far too many of us create stress, self-criticism and self-sabotage due to weight gain during the winter, which creates shame, guilt and inner pressure. Even if you follow a diet or make changes, your action comes from a place that doesn't love itself, these changes don't last, and you create more stress, not less. Don't fall into one of these self-sabotaging traps and take care of yourself with the following tips.

Talk to someone

This may seem obvious, but when you feel a little sad, even the idea of talking to a close friend may seem difficult for you to accept. The next time someone asks you, "How are you? ", don't just say fine and be honest. They have a good reason to ask you. And to realise that you are not the only one, has the ability to put things in perspective for you.

Move and spend time outdoors

After months spent indoors, your body needs exercise and fresh air. Step away from your electronic devices, get out and enjoy the sun. Go for a walk, have plenty of fresh air, get your blood flowing and remember what your body can do.

Walk as much as you can. Not only will it help your blood flow, but it will also help you clear your mind. Try to surround yourself with nature. The whole world wakes up and starts all over again. Observe this impressive phenomenon and you will soon begin to be inspired to make some changes as well.

Enjoy a picnic

What better way to enjoy the beauty of spring than by picnicking outside? You can invite friends or family to enjoy this time together or you can just do it alone. If you decide to have a picnic alone, take a book, music or anything else that can relax you.

Have a house that smells fresh

When the weather finally starts to warm up, one of the best ways to refresh your home is to simply open the windows.

Avoid potentially dangerous chemicals in candles or air fresheners. You can try to make your own products with natural products and essential oils. Add freshly cut flowers as a finishing touch.

Do something creative

Is music your thing? Do you like painting? Whether it's knitting, playing music or writing, we all have a little creativity in us. It can be very rewarding to draw on it.

No matter how talented you are. Focus on creating something. This will allow you to rest your mind.

Write a happiness list

Do you remember that incredible trip you took? How was your evening with your friends? Make a list of all the good things in your life, the people who make you laugh, what you have accomplished and the positive experiences you have had.

Add colour, add pictures and review them whenever you need to cheer yourself up.

Stay away from alcohol

You may be tempted to have a glass of wine (or three) after a hard day, but it's a short-term solution. After the initial joy, from the first few sips, alcohol begins to disrupt the balance of chemicals in your brain. This lowers your serotonin level and you wake up tired the next day. And the cycle continues.

Become happier by eating

It has been scientifically proven that high quality dark chocolate improves your mood by stimulating the production of endorphins. And omega-3-rich foods such as fatty fish and nuts will improve your serotonin and dopamine levels. These are essentially the substances of a happy brain.

Preparing a healthy meal is an important step in taking care of yourself. It may be easier to put a pizza in the oven, but you will feel much better if you enjoy real food.

Stay away from social media

People share the best moments of their lives online. But when you feel depressed, that negative voice in your head can make you think that everyone is having a lot more fun than you. Put your phone down and be in the present moment.

Give your mind a break from the constant connection and stimulation. Instead of being distracted, just allow yourself to listen to the birds sing, feel the breeze on your skin and let your mind wander.

Daily gratitude journal

With the change of season, start writing something for which you are grateful. Every day, take the time to think about the things in your life for which you are most grateful. It could be something like another beautiful day or having a rewarding job, but also simply the singing of birds in the morning or a child's smile. We often forget the good things that happen in our lives, so it is always good to take the time to see the things you are grateful for.

Keeping a diary is another practical tool. If you feel overwhelmed, check your journal. Keeping a journal is an excellent outlet for anything that comes to mind. You don't need to keep a journal regularly to record things you are grateful for. It can be a sentence or a word. Whatever you decide to write, it's enough. In addition, it will feel good to go back one day and read what you wrote months ago.

Plan time for yourself

The last and probably the most important thing on this list is to take time for yourself. We have so much to do and we often lack time for ourselves. Whether it's for family, work or anything else that prevents you from doing things for yourself, you need to slow down and take time for yourself. Do some of these things on this list and some things you like to do that may not be on this list. Always plan time for yourself on your calendar. Enjoy the sunny weather in these spring months and do something to make you smile!
